Paper Birdhouses for OTR Community Housing

This Final Friday, artist- and designer-embellished paper birdhouses will be on display at OTR shops including MiCA 12/v, Park + Vine, Metronation, City Roots, and Outside. They will then be auctioned off in a silent auction to benefit OTR Community Housing. The birdhouses are a new product from GreenBird, a company based in Over-the-Rhine.

DIY Decor on Apartment Therapy

Maya’s Paper Quilt
Apartment Therapy
29 January 07

Greetings from Cincinnati! We live in a swank, huge loft in Over-the-Rhine, but our bedroom is a small, awkward space with a fairly high ceiling. We struggled with the space above the bed: we wanted something large on the wall that would brighten up the room and make good use of the ceiling height. I’d like to share with you and your readers our quick and simple decorating solution, using colored drawing paper and double-stick tape. It’s sort of an hommage to Gee’s Bend; we call it paper quilting [like paper architecture]. We don’t know how well it will hold up over time, but we’re really happy after spending $12 and putting in a few hours of work.

Urban Forest Project

The New York chapter of the AIGA, along with the Worldstudio Foundation and the Times Square Alliance, organized a unique installation of streetlight banners throughout Times Square. We were honored to have been selected among the 185 participants worldwide. The banners were on display during Fall 06, after which they were recycled into totebags designed by Jack Spade. The designs were also available as limited-edition t-shirts. All proceeds benefitted the Worldstudio AIGA Scholarships and the AIGA/NY Mentoring Program. You can view our banner design here.
